The Birmingham and Three Counties Trust for Nurses
Our purpose is to help qualified/registered nurses and midwives who are working in or who have worked in the areas of Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and Staffordshire by establishing a trust fund and providing money and support for those in distress (this could include the elderly and those with a debilitating sickness). To provide grants for training leading to a post-registered qualification.
Structure and Management
Constitution
The trust was constituted under a deed dated 9th January 1922 together with supplementary deeds up to 5th December 1959 at the instigation of Dame Ellen Musson supported by the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham (the late Mr and Mrs Cadbury)

Organisation
Trustees are appointed by the board of trustees who meet on a regular basis throughout the year. The day-to-day running of the trust is overseen by the secretary to the trust, supported by the chairman of the trust. The chairman of the trust is appointed by the trustees.

Objectives and Activities
The purpose of the trust is to help qualified/registered nurses and midwives who are working in or who have worked in the areas of Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and Staffordshire by establishing a trust fund and providing money and support for those in distress (this could include the elderly and those with a debilitating sickness). To provide grants for training leading to a post-registered qualification.

Grant Making Policy
The trust invites applications from qualified/registered nurses and midwives in need of assistance, applicants must have worked or are working in Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire or Staffordshire areas for a period of approximately three years (although this time period is discretionary). All applicated are vetted by the trustees.

There is a tri-annual review of all grants made and members of the visiting panel will regularly contact those who have received grants both to offer help and assess current and future needs.

Our Process
An application form can be requested on the behalf of a nurse or a midwife, although the completed forms must be signed by the nurse or midwife concerned. The returned applications are strictly confidential.

A visit to the applicant will be arranged by a trust member or an applicant can request a trust member to call and together complete the application forms.
